One thing I’ve learned about living in Chicago is that this city loves its bikes. You see them everywhere, all shapes and sizes (have you seen the double deckers?), especially during the critical mass events – those are pretty awesome. The other thing I’ve learned is that when it comes to true bike connoisseur culture, less is always more. Fixed gear enthusiasts, the alpha-ninja bikers of the streets, the fast, the agile, and the light footed are all about maintaining the simple structure of the frame. Two wheels, pedals, a seat, and the rest is light weight steel. If you’re one of these fixed gear minimalist looking bikes, be sure to check out Alien Bikes. Based out of Norway, this is a one-man shop operated by Joseph Santaniello.
